Flour Bluff ISD Names Clynton Elwood Athletic Director & Head Football Coach
March 19, 2024 (Corpus Christi, Texas) – The Flour Bluff ISD Board of Trustees has named Clynton Elwood to serve as the district’s Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at a recent called board meeting on March 19, 2024.
“Coach Elwood consistently displays a steadfast commitment to academic and athletic achievements” stated Chris Steinbruck, Superintendent of Flour Bluff ISD. “He upholds our student-athletes to the highest standards of excellence in the classroom, ensuring their success beyond athletics. Additionally, FBISD fully believes in Coach Elwood’s ability to represent our community and lead all of our athletic programs with Class, Pride, and Heart, empowering leaders and embodying the values that make us proud to be Hornets.”
Clynton Elwood accepted the position of Interim Athletic Director/Defense Coordinator amid Chris Steinbruck’s recent move to Interim Superintendent in October 2023. Clynton Elwood is a Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi graduate and has a solid foundation in education and athletics. His career commenced at San Antonio Southwest as an English teacher and coach for football and track. In 2003, Clynton did his student teaching here at Flour Bluff ISD in High School English Language Arts, and Junior High Physical Education. Clynton also volunteered to coach with the high school. There he was able to learn from some of the best in the classroom and on the athletic playing fields. In 2009, Clynton and his wife Stacy were hired on as teachers at Flour Bluff ISD. Stacy began teaching 1st grade and now currently teaches at the ECC campus. She is in her 21st year of teaching and was also named Teacher of the Year at both Northeast ISD and here at Flour Bluff ISD. Coach Elwood and his wife continue to be a source of inspiration for our Hornets, motivating them to reach their full potential.
“I have always been extremely grateful to work in any capacity here at FBISD,” explained Clynton. “My family and I are invested in our great community, and we are proud to be part of the Hornet family.”
