Flour Bluff Football homecoming is a Flour Bluff tradition centered around a football game. This week is homecoming week and all of the campuses are preparing for homecoming festivities. Parade, mums, football, pep rally and a fun dance are planned this week and everyone is doing their part for a successful week. The big ? Who will be the Homecoming King and Queen. There’s a feeling in the community and it’s called “Summer Youth Football Camp”. Athletes from 3rd – 8thgrade look forward to this camp all summer. I marvel at how these athletes can talk plays and wanting to be a varsity player in the future. 3 days of intense training makes the is what makes a winning team and that is what all athletes strive for. I use to wonder why does Flour Bluff need an indoor athletic facility but as I quickly learned it allows athletes to practice 365 days a year, day or night. I love watching kiddos after…
At this time every year teachers are getting ready for Back To School. Setting up their room with lots of creative ways to teach our precious children. This year is no different but let’s remember supplies are NOT cheap. Like everything else paper goods and other items have gone way up in price. The Flour Bluff School Board elections are fast approaching . Packets can be picked up at the administration building and filing begins July 22nd, 2024. Places 1,3,6 and 7 are the open seats. Early voting begins Monday, October 21st – Friday, November 1st. 2024 Election Day is November 5th, 2024.
Meet Jaye Dugan and John Hartsell proud members of the Flour Bluff Padre Island 4H and recipients of the NCJLS 2024 scholarship. Both started in the local club in 3rd grade and have worked hard at all their projects in the organization. Only 12 Nueces County seniors received this prestigious scholarship and 2 of them are in our club. Homemaking, AgMech, and animal projects were a focus for both but HARD WORK is the real key to winning! These FB Hornets will graduate in May and will use the scholarship funds to pursue their college education.
Today was all about community pride as the Flour Bluff Business Association, Flour Bluff Padre Island 4H and community members joined HEB Plus Flour Bluff to clean up the area. 80 bags of trash were collected by all and we want to Thank our H-E-B community partner for hosting this Earth Day event every year.
The Coastal Bend Friends of Aquatics received its first banner donation for Parker Pool today from District 32 State Representative Todd Hunter. Representative Hunter knows the value of our community pool and has been a supporter for the last 6 years. Every donation helps us with the expenses for the pool and we just say Thank You Representative Hunter.
